Mary Zhou (b. Orange County, California) is a multimedia artist, currently based in St. Louis as an MFA candidate in Poetry at Washington University in St. Louis (‘27). They are exploring Chinese ancestral spirituality and queer diasporic identity through visual poetry, lyric essay, and movement.

Mary is the author of cave mouth tongue loose (The Head & The Hand Press, 2024) in collaboration with visual artist Nora E Luks.

Mary is the recipient of a 2025 Fellowship from Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. They have also received support from Tin House, Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, VONA/Voices, and Brooklyn Poets. Their work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and is shared in Michigan Quarterly Review, The Offing, Fence, Foglifter, and ANMLY.

Mary has facilitated community art & writing workshops for Wendy’s Subway, Blue Stoop, The Arts League, and Main Line Art Center.
