Mary Zhou is a multimedia artist based in St. Louis, from Orange County, California.

Mary is the author of cave mouth tongue loose (The Head & The Hand Press, 2024) in collaboration with visual artist Nora E Luks.

They are currently an MFA candidate in Poetry (‘27) at Washington University in St. Louis, where they teach undergraduate poetry workshops and received the Norma Lowry Memorial Award. Mary is also a Graduate Student Affiliate of the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, and Equity (CRE²).

Mary is the recipient of a 2025 Fellowship from Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. They have also received support from Tin House, Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, VONA/Voices, and Brooklyn Poets. Their work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and is shared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Black Warrior Review, and swamp pink. They have presented dance-poetry performances at the Asian Arts Initiative (Philadelphia) and Kemper Art Museum (St. Louis).

Mary has facilitated community art & writing workshops for Wendy’s Subway, Blue Stoop, The Arts League, and Main Line Art Center.
